Chuck Vossler and Ned Smith are participating in the 2005 One Lap of America.  One Lap began as the Cannonball Run (the movie was based on the five cross-continent races) and evolved starting in 1992 into a series of time trial events at race tracks throughout the country over the period of one week.  The event is foremost one of endurance and vehicle preparation. No support crews are allowed. The tires that are used on the street are the same ones that are raced on (one set per team). Scoring is based on performance at the race tracks but the vehicles and their drivers must survive nearly 24 hour per day driving to cover the close to 5,000 miles of driving interspersed with the finest meals available at gas station convenience stores. http://www.onelapofamerica.com/

Chuck and Ned observed OLOA at Heartland Park Topeka last summer and got the bug.  Soon after, the plan started to come together. Please follow our preparation and our journey on our log page.

We would like to thank our family and friends for supporting us in this endeavor.  Special thanks to Baron BMW for stepping up as our premier sponsor (http://www.baronbmw.com/).  We would also like to thank Bushnell (www.bushnell.com) Butler C&D (www.butlerbody.com), KC Autosport (www.kansascityautosport.com), Cobalt Friction Technologies (www.cobaltfriction.com), KC Trends ( http://www.kctrends.com/), Scott Blazey, Mike Staub, Robert Mosley, Greg Lippert, Kirk Kiloh, Patrick Smith, Joyce Smith, Dudley Smith and Christopher Smith (no relation).
